Fires erupt after dozens of rockets pour over northern Israel, IAF responds

Some of the projectiles were intercepted while others crashed in open areas with no injuries being reported, the IDF added.

Some 55 projectiles entered Israeli territory after alarms were triggered earlier Tuesday morning in the Upper Galilee and Golan Heights, the IDF reported.

The IDF also said firefighters were operating to extinguish fires that had erupted following the impacts. 

An Israel Air Force (IAF) aircraft subsequently struck the launcher from which the projectiles were fired.

IAF strikes Hezbollah launchers

On Tuesday morning, residents of some communities in the Golan Regional Council were told to stay near safe rooms and reduce movement and gatherings, Channel 12 reported.

The communities included Kidmat Zion, Ein Zivan, Ortal, Merom Golan, and Sha’al.  

At 08:01 a.m. and 08:02 a.m., several rocket alerts sounded in Gadot, Hulata, and Yesud Hama’ala in the Upper Galilee and in Ortal in the northern Golan Heights.

Earlier, the IDF said Israel Air Force fighter jets attacked two Hezbollah launchers in the areas of Al-Mansouri and Al-Taybeh in southern Lebanon overnight.

The launchers that were struck were ready to be fired at Israeli territory, the military added.
