750-meter extreme zipline: Israel's longest set to open this month

Israel’s longest zipline, stretching 750 meters, will open this month in Jerusalem, offering riders breathtaking views of the Old City and other famous landmarks in the capital.

The new zipline shatters the previous Israeli record of around 400 meters, which was held by the zipline in Gush Etzion.

Scenic AdventureThis unique attraction is the result of a collaboration between the City of David, Keren Kayemet LeIsrael, the Ministry of Jerusalem and Heritage, the Jerusalem Development Authority, and the Jerusalem Municipality. Organizers hope it will draw more tourists to the city.

Suspended about 30 meters above ground, the zipline passes over the Peace Forest in Jerusalem, offering stunning views of the Old City, the City of David, the Kidron Valley, the Mount of Olives, Mount Zion, Mishkenot Sha’ananim, and the Temple Mount.

The adventure begins at the Armon Hanatziv Promenade on the roof of "David's Lookout," the southern entrance to ancient Jerusalem, and ends in the Peace Forest near the City of David's camping area.

The new zipline will be open to the public starting Wednesday, August 14, 2024. The price is steep at NIS 165 per person. While the cost covers insurance and other expenses, a family of four—two adults and two children—would pay NIS 660, excluding drinks. Tickets can be booked on the City of David website.

• Pregnant women are not permitted to participate.
• Slots are available every 30 minutes.
• Personal items are not allowed on the ride; free lockers are provided on-site.
• Glasses wearers are advised to either remove their glasses or secure them.
• The return route to the visitor center includes stairs.
