An English-style home in the heart of the Sharon
After living in London, they wanted to bring a piece of it to Israel. Architect Boaz Snir knew exactly what they meant – and the result speaks for itself.
- Location: One of the cities in the Sharon region
- Plot size: Approx. 450 square meters, Built area: approx. 300 square meters
- Architecture and interior design: Architect Boaz Snir
This unique and captivating home belongs to a family who recently returned to Israel after years in London. A couple in their 40s, along with their three children, enlisted architect Boaz Snir to transform their house, blending British influences with Mediterranean sensibilities and adapting it perfectly to their family lifestyle.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, they bought the old house in a pastoral neighborhood in Sharon – an extraordinary remote transaction. “Everything was done via Zoom,” the couple recalls, describing how they initially met Snir online and conducted the purchase, design planning, and discussions with lawyers and real estate agents through video calls.
Architect Boaz Snir explains: “Through Zoom, I shared my impressions of the house, chose materials, colors, and textures with them. By the time they returned from London, the house was nearly complete and ready to move in.”
The home is located just a short walk from the beach, exuding a boutique hotel atmosphere with refined European elegance. While the palm trees in front – planted years ago – were preserved, other elements underwent upgrades, including the swimming pool and stairway. “The design is directly inspired by English, specifically London, aesthetics, as per the family’s request and cherished memories of their time in London,” says Snir.
The home’s color palette features white, gray, and gold with touches of turquoise and blue, adding vibrancy and character to every space. Even the windows, styled with a European feel, contribute a sense of classic design, reflecting luxury and elegance.
The ground floor is open and spacious, dedicated to the home’s public spaces. The kitchen, located opposite the entrance, is a large, impressive space with a central island that complements the home’s classic, light cabinetry.
The family, with a love for culture, showcases this throughout the home, incorporating musical instruments. For instance, a piano in the public area on the ground floor sits in a dedicated niche, with wallpaper that harmonizes with the home’s overall color scheme.
As they are not a “TV family,” no space was allocated for a television in the living room. Instead, the room was designed as a comfortable, intimate area, reinforcing a sense of togetherness, unlike traditional living rooms.
Each room is designed to meet the personal needs of its occupant, ensuring privacy and comfort. The home offices are divided between two levels, providing each parent a dedicated, quiet workspace away from the household bustle.
The father’s office has a young loft-style look, while the mother’s office is colorful and romantic, offering a peaceful, calming environment.
The basement serves as a leisure and entertainment space, featuring a pool table, dartboard, turntable with vinyl records, a stylish library, and even a sauna that enhances the home’s retreat-like ambiance.
The couple’s bedroom overlooks the garden and pool, and the ambiance is luxurious and regal. The en-suite bathroom features a classic design with intricate details, incorporating tiles in gold, white, and gray – reflecting the home’s color palette. A freestanding bathtub enhances the sense of luxury and elegance.
