New details about the facelift of the best-selling electric car from the American electric manufacturer in Israel and worldwide.

Tesla is preparing to start producing the facelift version of the Model Y crossover in mid-2024. According to Bloomberg's report, this is the time when the Tesla factory in Shanghai, China, is set to produce the updated model. Israel receives the Model 3 from the factory, but the Model Y will come to us from the production plant in Germany, which is likely to operate on a similar timeline, as was the case with the major update that the Model 3 underwent last year under the codename "Highland".

The updated Model Y, developed under the codename "Jupiter", is expected to undergo similar changes. Cosmetic updates on the front and rear, higher quality components in the production chain, equipment updates, alongside improvements in the propulsion system.

In China, Tesla has already started gradual updates, and it was reported that the base model, the standard one with rear-wheel drive, will begin to offer improved performance, such as 0-100 km/h in just 5.9 seconds, a whole second faster than the rear-wheel-drive model produced in Germany.

The updates are intended to enhance the competitiveness of the Model Y against newer models, led by the Expanse G6, which is enjoying success in China and will also arrive in Israel in the coming months.

Model Y, which was discounted at the beginning of the year in Israel for NIS 224,000, will finish the year with deliveries of 4,143 units, four times the deliveries of the model in 2022. This is compared to 2,330 units of the Hyundai Ioniq 5 and 1,800 units of the Skoda Enyaq that were delivered this year.
