Introducing Jaecoo, a new Chinese brand with non-electric crossovers

Carmobile, the importer, will launch Jaecoo this year for Chery Group, which, unlike most new Chinese brands, focuses on stylish gasoline models with dual propulsion. Everything you need to know.

Carmobile, the importer of Hyundai, Mitsubishi, Mercedes, Genesis, and ORA, is adding another brand to the expanding list: soon an official announcement will be made about the import of Jaecoo, a new export brand of the Chinese Chery Group.

The company has received recognition that the brand will focus on gasoline models and Omoda that will also offer electric models, alongside gasoline and plug-in hybrids. Meanwhile, Freesbe (formerly Cros) will continue to import more popular Chery models, including electric ones.

The first model to be launched is the J7, a five-seater crossover with an design reminiscent of Land Rover models, including a luxury marker with door handles embedded in the doors and retractable at the touch.

A turbo-gasoline engine of 1,600 cc with a power of 197 hp and a torque of 29 kgm, coupled with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, provides acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds, and a combined fuel consumption of 13.3 km per liter relatively high.

A ground clearance of 20 cm and approach and departure angles of 21/29 degrees, along with a wading depth of 60 cm, are expected to provide good off-road capability above average in the category.

A length of 4.54 meters, a width of 1.89 meters, a height of 1.68 meters, alongside a wheelbase of 2.67 meters, similar in dimensions to those of the Hyundai Tucson. The cargo compartment has a volume of 412 liters.

High-level equipment: a 14.8-inch central screen, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster screen, Android Auto and original Apple CarPlay, a head-up display, a panoramic sunroof, an electric tailgate, and more.

The J8 will also be launched, a crossover the size of the Kia Sorento, with three rows of seats and seating for 6. The turbocharged gasoline engine has a displacement of 2 liters and produces 250 horsepower, with dual traction as well.

The Jaco models will arrive by the end of the year. The prices will be higher than those of the Chery models, but are expected to be relatively competitive compared to European and Korean competitors.
