For curly-haired individuals: Hair care routine made easier than ever
After years of straightening their hair to fit beauty standards, curly hair has made a significant comeback in recent years.
As someone with curly hair, I've been hearing about Dyson's hair dryer for years but always hesitated to invest in it due to my unique needs. I don't straighten my hair frequently, and my primary use for a dryer is diffusing. However, every time I saw it with friends or in advertisements, it tempted me.
So when I saw the Supersonic model, I knew it was now or never, especially since it boasts intelligent heat control technology that prevents extreme heat damage. In recent years, awareness of the dangers of using hair dryers has increased. Focusing on scalp health and preventing both short-term and long-term damage led to the development of sensors that automatically adjust the air temperature. The device measures the air temperature 40 times a second and regulates the emitted heat.
For us as users, this means that when we move the dryer during styling, the heat rises or cools to adapt as we move closer or farther from the head. There is also an option to turn off the scalp mode if you prefer to manually adjust the heat output. In any case, the dryer has three precise speed settings: fast for quick drying and styling, medium for regular drying, and slow for diffusing.
The hair dryer comes with styling attachments that magnetically connect to the dryer, such as the Flyaway for reducing static electricity, a diffuser that mimics natural drying and helps reduce static, a gentle air attachment for fine hair and sensitive scalps, and a wide-tooth comb designed for curly hair, helping to style the hair while adding volume and a full, elongated look.
I don't know if you understand the significance of reducing static when you have curls. Only someone with dry and unruly hair understands what it's like to leave the house and look like they've been through a commando training course after five minutes. The Flyaway is an addition that is astonishing it wasn't invented earlier, as it manages to tame even the most unruly hair back to its natural place.
Regarding Dyson's diffuser, I also noticed a significant change in use and results. You no longer need to bend your head for an hour to achieve the perfect result. Just attach it to your hair, and it dries gently while maintaining the hair's moisture. If you're not in a hurry, it's best to use the slow or medium drying power, as curls struggle with intense heat.
Another feature worth mentioning is the wide-tooth brush. It’s easy to handle and, like the other attachments, magnetically connects to the device. I find it great for times when you want to loosen the curls a bit without breaking them.
