Red wines for the hot days

Osnat Gueta believes that hot days shouldn't prevent us from enjoying red wines. Here are some examples.

Remember when red wine had to be paired with meat and white wine with fish? We're long past that! Full-bodied white wines are now enjoyed with fatty steaks, as the acidity of the wine contrasts with the meat's fat. Meanwhile, chilled red wines can be enjoyed even in the midst of scorching summer days.

In countries like ours, where it's hot most of the year, more and more light red wines are being produced. These wines are made with a cool approach, considering the final sip. They have less sweetness and heaviness, more spice and minerality, and use local grape varieties.

There are some rules for choosing red wine to drink on hot days, such as low alcohol content, light color, young age, and reduced oak presence. I also tasted a few wines that don't fit these rules but were still great after chilling them. Besides, most of them are priced reasonably.
