Artificial intelligence everywhere: Google adds Gemini to all platforms
Google's AI engine, Gemini, to integrate with email, word processing, slide editor, and Drive, offering enhanced organization and "smart" responses tailored to each platform.
Google continues its foray into artificial intelligence, with new AI features for Gmail aimed at making email management more efficient. The company is rolling out a new Gemini sidebar, which will summarize email threads, draft new messages, and find emails that were hard to locate using traditional search. The tool will also offer "proactive suggestions," and users can ask free-form questions to the AI.
However, these improvements are available only to paying Gemini users. To benefit from AI, you need to be a Google Workspace subscriber with a Gemini Business or Enterprise add-on, Gemini Education or Education Premium add-on, or a Google One AI Premium subscriber.
Analysts recommend caution in fully relying on these tools for work, considering that artificial intelligence is not entirely accurate. Therefore, even while using Gemini, it is advisable to thoroughly check the output. For example, if you instruct Gemini to draft an email for you, review its suggestion before hitting Send, as AI-generated responses can sometimes be erratic.
Meanwhile, Google is also introducing Gemini features to the side panel in Drive, Docs, and Slides. Although the company has not detailed Gemini's capabilities in these applications, based on similar technologies, it can be assumed that Gemini will be able to create documents directly in the word processor and build full presentations upon command.
