Bigger screens, improved cameras, powerful processors, and perhaps some unexpected surprises – can Apple reinvent itself once again?

Apple fans, get ready: if the iPhone 15 left you a bit indifferent, we have news for you. In less than two months, in September, Apple is expected to unveil its next flagship series – the iPhone 16 (or perhaps with a more exciting name?). So, what do we know about Apple's new baby? Let's dive into the rumors and leaks:

Larger Screens and New Camera LayoutThis year, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models are expected to feature larger screens, measuring 6.27 and 6.86 inches respectively. In comparison, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max come with 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch screens respectively. These new screen sizes will be the largest ever for an iPhone.

Vertical Camera ArrangementThe base models of the iPhone 16 will include a vertical camera arrangement with a pill-shaped raised area, instead of the diagonal camera setup seen in the iPhone 15. The new camera bump features two separate camera rings for the wide and ultra-wide lenses. The vertical camera arrangement is expected to enable spatial video recording, currently limited to iPhone 15 Pro models.

Battery ChangesOne rumor suggests that the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro Max will have larger batteries than their predecessors, but the iPhone 16 Plus might have a reduced capacity. The iPhone 16 is expected to have a 6% increase over the iPhone 15, with the iPhone 16 Pro Max seeing a 5% increase. On the other hand, the iPhone 16 Plus is anticipated to have a 9% reduction in capacity. Alternatively, Apple might use stacked battery technology to increase energy density and extend lifespan across all models.

New Capture ButtonThe entire iPhone 16 series will feature a new "Capture Button" dedicated to initiating photo or video capture. The button will allow zooming in and out by sliding left and right, focusing on an object with a light press, and starting recording with a firmer press. The capture button will be located on the bottom right side of the iPhone 16, replacing the mmWave antenna on U.S. models, with the antenna moving to the left side of the device beneath the volume and action buttons.

Lens UpgradeThe iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to include an upgraded 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera lens, capturing more light and resulting in better photos when shooting at 0.5×, especially in low-light conditions. Additionally, Apple is exploring new optical coating technology for the cameras to enhance photo quality by reducing flare and ghosting.
