Start-ups and families honor fallen heroes at stock exchange trading day
Start-ups and bereaved families honor fallen heroes by opening stock exchange trading day, part of Next October initiative memorializing 1,600 fallen.
Over 250 startups have already joined the Next October initiative and adopted a family of a faller or faller, which they will immortalize as part of their business activity. The trade opening ceremony was attended by:
The family of the late Major (res.) Amichai Weizman, an educator immortalized by the NovoDia company that develops educational tools.
The family of Assaf Schlesinger, who was a paramedic at the Nova party, and is commemorated by the Bettear company that develops medical tools in the field of hearing.
The family of the late Major (res.) Matan Meir, who was involved in the fields of productions and is immortalized by the Israel Media Group company, which helps in media development.
The family of the late Amit Man, a paramedic who was murdered while performing her duty at Kibbutz Bari, is being commemorated by Avertto Medical, which develops life-saving solutions to prevent strokes.
The family of Col. Jonathan Steinberg, immortalized by the Mind Guard company.
The family of the late Dr. Hagit Mishkin, immortalized by the TA'Al company.
The family of the late Capt. Eyal Klein, immortalized by Atom Constructions.
The family of the late Major Ido Shani, immortalized by the company Minovia Therapeutics.
The family of the late Major General Yossi Hershkovitz, immortalized by the Zugit company.
The family of the late Sergeant Yaron (Uri) Shay, immortalized by the Pery company.
Yizhar Shai, the former Minister of Science and Technology, and the father of the late Sgt. They had aspirations, they had dreams. They deserve to be remembered, each and every one of them, for who they were, but hundreds of Israeli companies will immortalize each one of them in their own special way, and together we will continue To build a glorious economy and state. This is why next October will be even better. This is the right Zionist, Jewish, Israeli answer to those who forced this war on us: we will build a better world together the pain"
Open for business even in the shadow of the extermination attempts
Ofir Shai, CEO of Next October, followed by the late Sergeant Yaron (Uri) Shai: "I am excited to stand at the opening ceremony here at the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, after we had already opened trading at the New York and London stock exchanges, we arrived here today To mark that even here, in Tel Aviv, in Israel, next October will be better. I personally am here on behalf of my little brother Yaron, Noni. He fell among heroes defending Kerem Shalom, and in his death saved many lives. I vowed to carry my brother's name with me everywhere with pride, and I am happy that our way as a family to commemorate his memory and his special light, has turned from a personal and family goal into a national memorial project."
Itai Ben Ze'ev, CEO of the Stock Exchange: "The opening of trading like this has never happened on the stock exchange and the range of emotions is enormous. Once again the thought crosses my mind: what the fallen heroes and heroines went through and what did they do to take care of the present and a better future.
It is a feeling of both pride and anguish, which is very difficult to explain in words. I am full of appreciation for all those people who are here, donating and helping this important project. I can tell you that personally I have never been more proud to be Israeli, thanks to the good people who make up this nation and who are themselves the strength of civil society in Israel."
Karin Mayer Rubinstein, CEO and President of IATI, the Israeli Association for Advanced Industries: "Three months ago, the 'Next October' team accompanied me to the opening ceremony of trading at the Nasdaq in New York. It was a cool and beautiful morning and the tens of thousands of people who passed through Time Square in New York watched Watch the live broadcast that was projected on the wall of the Nasdaq's tall building, and see there a delegation of Israeli high-tech and innovation people open the trade and hereby inform the world: The State of Israel is open for business despite the war, even though they tried to destroy us.
It was a very exciting class, but today I am more excited. The Israel Association for Advanced Industries, which brings together hundreds of companies and most of the venture capital funds operating in Israel, is committed to this vision of the growth of 1,600 Israeli innovation companies. Let them commemorate, each in their own way, the fallen and the murdered as their families would have us remember them."
Adi Sofer Thani, CEO of Meta (Facebook) Israel: "As someone who has been working in high-tech for a decade, I want to say - we all wake up in the morning with the feeling that it is a privilege to be part of this amazing industry. Since the seventh of October this is not only a right - it is also a duty. Today more than ever, we must be the best we were. We must work as hard as we have ever worked. If we understand what is needed to build the next chapter of Zionism, then it is clear that the victory equation does not exist without a really, really strong high-tech industry.
Although the period is very complex and very difficult, we must work as hard as we have worked, so that the high-tech industry does its part in building the economy. Each of us has a civil order 8. This is also the opportunity to call on everyone who needs to be called: return the abductees home so that the State of Israel can be restored."
Hami Peres, co-founder of the Pitango venture capital fund: "I grew up in the home of a very optimistic person, and as such I can testify: those who adhere to optimism do not do it out of naivety - but because it is the best tool we have. We are in a turning point. Those people who establish The startups, the people who protect the borders in the north and the south, know that there is no alternative: to continue growing, to break through the glass ceiling, in my opinion, for an extraordinary decade."
"Man is born good and so was he in his youth"
Einat Gaz, CEO and co-founder of Papaya Global: "Being an Israeli entrepreneur is not the same as being an entrepreneur anywhere else in the world. We have another commitment that goes beyond the capitalist worlds. In the end we have to find the time to do good too. Only we are responsible for healing everything that happens around us."
Col. (Resp.) Talia Lankri: "You, the high-tech community, are the national security of the State of Israel. The resilience of the State of Israel depends on the economy, on international relations. All of these are affected by your activity, the high-tech industry. I attend conferences every day, I lecture every day, this is the most exciting conference I've ever been to. Next October's activity demonstrates what we are capable of."
Hila Shay, the mother of the late Sgt. Yaron (Uri) Shay: "I tried to instill in Yaron the belief that a person is born good and that's how he was in his youth. It was important to me that my Yaroni knew that we as human beings have the ability to influence the good around us. We do good and like The ripples in the sea, this good will go and expand and then come back to us. Hard days on a personal level and hard on a national level.
Sometimes it feels like the air here is getting very thin. Each one of us needs to find the mental charges to get up in the morning to continue doing things, cheerfully check the pulse and see that it is possible to simply breathe. And in those days, NEXT OCTOBER is an island of sanity, an island that proves I was right and man is indeed better than his youth. A place where every new day you can find circles of volunteers who choose to do everything for the benefit of the social resilience of the State of Israel. Entrepreneurs who find the time to hug the families of those who paid with their lives in this terrible war and they are also the ones who will lead to the recovery of the country's economy and develop products that will make the whole world a better place."
Next october
The Next October initiative was established by the Shai family, headed by Yizhar Shai, former Minister of Science and Technology, high-tech entrepreneur and venture capital investor, after the death of his son, the late Sergeant Yaron (Uri) Shai, on October 7.
The purpose of the organization is to help convert the pain of bereavement into the energy of doing good, through a connection between young start-up companies and bereaved families. The organization's volunteers learn the unique nature of each startup that seeks to be accepted into the initiative, and connect it to a family of a fallen man or woman who has similarities (for example, a company that deals in wine commemorates a fallen woman who loved wine, a company in the medical field commemorates a paramedic who fell while performing her duties).
The startups undertake to hold a commemorative activity that matches the nature of the fallen, an activity that will increase in scope as the startup grows. The Next October organization provides start-ups with a package of support - from connecting with investors, through individual advice and enrichment events - thereby increasing the chances of companies to grow, create jobs, and strengthen Israel's economic resilience.
