There are some surprises: The safe countries in Europe for Israelis
After the Amsterdam pogrom, travel warnings have increased in some European countries, but others, from Cyprus to Eastern Europe, still welcome us safely.
While we are still struggling to recover from the difficult scenes in Amsterdam, many of us are wondering - where is it still safe to travel? The surprising answer is that right now, when the European winter is in full swing and Christmas markets are starting to fill with the scents of cinnamon and roasted chestnuts, there are quite a few countries where the risk level is low, and they welcome Israelis with open arms.
First of all, it’s important to understand the meaning of the different warning levels. Most of the well-known European countries - Spain, France, Italy, and Greece - are classified under "sporadic threat." This is not an especially severe warning, but it does require heightened vigilance. In contrast, there are countries like Bosnia, for example, that are under "medium threat," and it’s advisable to avoid visiting them. However, a country like Turkey is already at a "high threat" level, and it’s recommended to avoid it altogether during this period.
Although the situation is complex, it’s important to remember that safe tourism is still possible. With proper planning, following the Foreign Affairs Ministry guidelines, and choosing the right countries, you can definitely find charming corners in Europe where you can enjoy a peaceful and safe vacation. Maybe now is an excellent opportunity to discover new destinations we hadn’t considered before.
Jumping to a Neighbor
Cyprus, which has become a home for many Israelis since October 7, is a great place for a vacation. The picturesque island offers various travel options for tourists even during this time of year.
If we head north, we’ll find that Scandinavian countries like Norway, Finland, and Denmark also maintain a high level of security. These countries offer a magical winter vacation, especially during the period before Christmas.
In Central Europe, countries like the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Poland are waiting for us. Their ancient cities, with impressive architecture and historic markets, offer an excellent alternative for those dreaming of a classic European vacation. Imagine yourself walking through the ancient alleys of Prague or Budapest, with the snow covering the red roofs and the sweet scent of mulled wine in the air.
Even ski enthusiasts can breathe easy - the tiny Andorra, surrounded by the Pyrenees Mountains, remains green and safe. While neighboring France and Spain are under "sporadic threat," this paradise offers a perfect ski vacation without unnecessary worries.
