Winter time 2023: When do you move the hands of the clock back one hour?
On October 27th, during the night between Saturday and Sunday, at 2:00 AM, we will need to turn the clocks back one hour to 1:00 AM.
The winter time of the year 2024 will come into effect at the end of the month, on October 27, the night between Saturday and Sunday. At 2:00 in the morning we will be required to move the hands of the clocks back one hour, which will make us gain an hour of sleep, but will lead to us losing an hour of daylight. Winter time will end on March 28, 2025, the night between Thursday and Friday - then summer time will come into effect again.
Many smartphone owners do enjoy the automatic update of the clock on their mobile phone according to our time zone, but those who are not 100% sure that the update to daylight saving time will enter their mobile phone, can update the time manually in the phone settings.
Don't take a risk
Did you choose not to take a risk and manually update the winter time? Here's how to do it:
Android
Enter the Settings menu and look for the "Date and Time" option. Enter it and disable the "Automatic Date and Time" option. Select the correct time zone and then the desired time.
Since there are quite a few different types of the Android operating system and countless versions, the menus may differ slightly from each other. If you can't find the update date and time option, it's probably hidden inside another option. Look for "more options" in the menu and you will probably find what you are looking for there.
iPhone
To update the time manually in the iOS operating system, go to the Settings menu and select the "General" option. From the displayed options, click on "Date & Time" and turn off the "Set Automatically" switch. Choose the correct time zone and manually set the desired time.
The transfer of time to winter time and summer time is carried out in Israel according to the latest version of the Time Determination Law from 2013. According to the Time Determination Law, every year, on the last Sunday of October, the clock in Israel is moved back one hour (from 02:00 to 01:00 ). This time is called "winter time", one of the two times used in Israel. Winter time ends almost every year on the last Friday of March when the clock is moved forward one hour, this time is called "summer time".
