Bus carrying children crashes into truck on Israeli highway

The highway was blocked from the Latrun interchange eastward by police as emergency services officials tended to involved passengers.

A 10-year-old Israeli girl was seriously injured after a bus carrying children was involved in a serious crash with a truck on Israel's Highway 1 on Tuesday morning, according to Israeli media.

Some 30 Israeli children were aboard the bus at the time of the crash. One 10-year-old girl who was sitting in one of the front seats was reported to be injured with serious head wounds

Driver moderately injured in bus crash

Other passengers were treated by Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah first responders. Volunteer paramedic Liad Ohana said following the incident, "we provided initial treatment to a girl who sat in the front of the bus and was seriously injured, to the bus driver who sustained moderate injuries, and to additional children who were lightly injured.

"Due to the nature of the incident, the psychotrauma and crisis response unit was dispatched and treated numerous children for emotional and psychological shock," the paramedic added.

The highway reopened to regular traffic at around midday on Tuesday, several hours after the accident occured.
