"I worry about the residents here; we have to fight a brutal war against this crime," Ben-Gvir told his colleagues and the media.

National Security Minister MK Itamar Ben-Gvir visited Nazareth on Friday morning following a double murder that took place overnight in the city. The minister arrived at the scene of the murder to hold a discussion with the Northern District police.

He also received a briefing from the district commander Brigadier General Shuki Tchaouka.

Itamar Ben-Gvir's statement and intentions

"I worry about the residents here; we have to fight a brutal war against this crime," Ben-Gvir told his colleagues and the media. "The Israel Police [Force] lacks many things. Budgets are lacking, policemen are lacking-there needs to be a National Guard to maintain order here.

"There are excellent district commanders and regional commanders here, professionals for whom I only have only praise. I know that they lack tools and I intend to do as much as possible in the coming months so that they get [them].

"My statement is an explicit [one]: We must stop this, and do everything so that the blood is not spilled here in the streets. The children who live here deserve a different reality and that's why I'm here."

According to the police investigation so far into the incident, the murders were the result of a clash between rival gangs.
