Speaking to Radio 103FM, Maariv military reporter Tal Lev Ram explained that "the time [of the attack] was relatively unusual, there was light, you can actually see the signs of the attack.
"This is an area where several research centers are concentrated, an area that is relatively close to the Lebanese border," he continued. "There could be an aspect of immediate identification or a desire to send a message, that you want the attack to be seen, it is photographed differently, and it could be an appropriate operational aspect."
Previous airstrikes in Syria
On Tuesday last week, Syria's transport ministry had to re-route flights carrying earthquake aid following an overnight aerial attack that put Aleppo International Airport out of commission.
The move to re-route flights came after reports of a series of explosions in the north, thought to be airstrikes carried out against Iranian militia targets at an airport in Aleppo.
