The cadet was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

A female cadet in the IDF's officer's course died overnight after collapsing during a routine guard duty assignment, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said on Sunday.

She was later named as 19-year-old Shaked Aslan from Petah Tikva. Aslan was posthumously promoted to the rank of Second-Lieutenant.

Collapsed while on guard duty

Aslan was rushed to the hospital after collapsing near a guard post, while guarding a settlement in the Mateh Binyamin regional council in the West Bank, according to Walla.

Another soldier was nearby and alerted first responders. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital.

"She was a humble, noble girl. You don't see a girl like that every day. This is a great loss. She was supposed to have a promising future in the service," Aslan's classmate Dudi Oknin told Ynet.

Aslan was buried in the IDF cemetery in Petah Tikva. The circumstances of her death will be further investigated.

In a similar incident, Shylee Westland, who served in the Israel Air Force and was a cadet in the IDF staff officers course, died collapsing at the officer's course base Bahd 1 in July 2021.
