One Israeli killed, 33 injured in South Korea bus accident

The bus driver attributed the accident to a mechanical issue in the bus, according to Army Radio. 

An Israeli woman in her 60s was killed and 33 others are injured after a bus full of Israeli tourists overturned in South Korea on Thursday.

The one fatality was identified as Hadera resident Margarita Schwartzberg, KAN reported.

The 33 injured Israeli tourists are hospitalized in nine different medical centers. At the time of writing, four are in serious condition, nine in moderate condition. Medical teams from Harel Insurance have landed in South Korea to help treat the injured.

The bus was carrying 33 tourists, who were on their way back to their hotel in the southwestern Chungcheong Province. Most of the passengers suffered light wounds, as did the bus driver and the tour guide, who are both Korean.

Israel's Foreign Ministry sends thanks and appreciation for South Korean emergency response

Foreign Minister Eli Cohen spoke on Thursday afternoon with Israel’s Ambassador to South Korea Akiva Tor, conveying his wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured and his appreciation to the South Korean emergency and medical teams for their speedy arrival and taking excellent care of the Israeli citizens.
