Aloni collapsed during a training session at the Border Police's training base in Michmas. Despite attempts to resuscitate and an evacuation with a helicopter, she was pronounced dead.

Border Police officer Maya Aloni, who collapsed and died during a training exercise in the West Bank, was laid to rest on Tuesday evening, with the deputy commander of Border Police promising he "would not rest" until the truth about the circumstances of her death was clarified.

Aloni, a resident of Sha'ar Efraim, joined the Border Police in March and was in the middle of her training. Aloni collapsed during a training session at the Border Police's training base in Michmas. Despite attempts to resuscitate and being evacuated by helicopter, she was pronounced dead.

"Maya enlisted out of a strong desire to enlist in a combat unit, perform significant service, defend the State of Israel and keep its residents safe," said Border Police deputy commander Brick Yitzhak in a eulogy. "Yesterday in the evening we were informed that the worst thing had happened. Israel Police and the Border Police today mourns the loss and bows its head for the fall of the dedicated and courageous officer in training, Maya Aloni, who died prematurely."

"We share in your sorrow, dear Aloni family, Israel, the father, Ilana, the brother, the brothers Ido and Ofir and the sister Noa. Dear family - we promise that we will not rest until we reach the truth. The circumstances of Maya's death will be examined and investigated to the end. There are no words to console you for the enormous loss, we wish to hug and strengthen you. The death of Maya and the rest of our soldiers who fell during their service, will be remembered and kept in our hearts forever."
