Doron Turgeman, head of the Jerusalem police district, arrived at the scene and is conducting a situation assessment of the incident after being briefed on the attack.

"Tonight at 02:42 a report was received at MDA's 101 emergency center in the Jerusalem area, about a shooting at the Kalandiya checkpoint," MDA spokesman Zachi Heller said. "MDA medics provided medical treatment and evacuated two young men aged 22 and 24 to Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in good condition. The terrorist was killed."

"When we received the report about the attack, we were near the scene and arrived quickly," MDA medics Tair Assis and Yair Gerstel told. "We saw two fully conscious men walking around, one of them a young man of about 22 who approached us in the ambulance with an injury to his hand as a result of gunshots. We gave him medical treatment, bandaged the wound and evacuated him to the hospital when his condition was light. The second man, about 24 years old, suffered a minor injury, and after treatment in the field, we evacuated him for further tests and treatment in the hospital, where his condition is good."
