Deputy director of the hospital Dr. Avi Weissman was quoted as saying: "A short time ago, there was a ramming attack at the entry gate of Rambam Health Care Campus, unusual indeed.

"Within a matter of minutes, a young man was received, seriously injured, and currently being treated in the shock room (a collaborative work area for emergency and intensive care staff). He seems to be injured in all limbs. He is currently unconscious and intubated and will undergo a series of surgeries. The entrance of the hospital is blocked by vehicles at this time. As we speak, we are removing this (block). Currently, only rescue vehicles are entering. After a check, walk-ins are still permitted."
