Three injured in ramming terror attack in Jerusalem, police arrests two terrorists
The terror suspects exited the vehicle after the ramming attack and attempted to open fire on nearby pedestrians with an improvised weapon, but failed.
Three pedestrians were injured in a ramming terror attack in Jerusalem on Monday morning, Israel Police reported on Monday morning.
In their announcement, Israel police stated :
"This morning, at approximately 08:00, a report came in regarding a car accident and the injury of three pedestrians on Techelet Mordechai Street in Jerusalem. Thankfully, the pedestrians sustained only minor injuries. However, the situation took a dangerous turn when two armed terrorists emerged from the vehicle involved in the accident. Despite their attempts, they failed to inflict harm with their weapons and hastily fled the scene, discarding their firearms as they made their escape.
Upon receiving the report, forces from the Jerusalem District swiftly responded to the scene, initiating extensive search operations. Thanks to their efforts, the discarded weapon was successfully located. Superintendent Doron Turgeman, commander of the Jerusalem district, conducted an immediate assessment on-site.
Recognizing the gravity of the situation, he ordered the mobilization of all available resources, including special units, with the primary objective of swiftly apprehending the two fleeing terrorists."
Police arrests the two terrorists
The extensive searchers conducted by the Border Police forces along Israeli police forces from the Jerusalem district - under the command of District Commander Doron Turgeman - the two terrorists were found and arrested, Maariv reported.
With the assistance of the Israel PoliceUnit's helicopter, the team was able to find the two terrorists who were hiding. They were arrested and trasnferred for further questioning.
A video was released on Monday of the conversation between the Police Commissioner and the Jerusalem District Police Commander from the vigilant citizen who reported the two terrorist suspects entering a business building after they fled from the ramming attack scene.
"We began scanning the building from two directions. When one of the detectives noticed a door of one of the businesses, a furniture shop, was open, he entered with the team and spotted the two terrorists hiding at the end of the store," recounted Captain Y, an intelligence officer and a detective in the Central Unit of the Jerusalem District.
Treating the injured
Magen David Adom (MDA) arrived at the scene and provided the following statement: "At 07:52, a call was made regarding two people that were hit from what would seem the same vehicle in two different locations."
The terror also hit a pedestrian on Yermiyahu Street in Romema, Jerusalem, Both pedestrians were mildly injured, one was evacuated to Shaare Zedek Medical Center andthe other preferred not to recieve further treatment.
MDA provided them with the initial treatment, "we were close to the scene and arrived within minutes," said MDA paramedics Yitzhak HaKesef and Daniel Levi. The two paramedics explained that an 18-year-old person was seen with an injury to his head, and was very agitated. "We provided him with medical treatment and evacuated him to the hospital in mild condition," they added.
The paramedics further explained that "People at the scene told us that while he was busy with burning chametz, a vehicle hit him at the entrance to the parking lot between buildings."
"Two injured from the Romema attack arrived at the trauma unit at Shaare Zedek Medical Center," Shaare Zedek Medical Center reported. The hospital further informed that the three injured are lightly injured, aged 20, 18, and 15, and are expected to be released on Monday morning the same day.
The three injured refused to give seperate statement, however they wished to convey that "thank God we are well and healthy. This was a Passover miracle. We ask for unity in Israel and are wishing a kosher, happy, and safe holiday to Israel."
