Israeli security forces clash with terrorists in Jenin, destroy terrorist's home

During the operation, forces exchanged fire with terrorists, some of which were identified as being hit, the IDF said. 

Israeli security forces exchanged fire with terrorists in a counter-terrorism operation in Jenin, the military said Tuesday.

The operation came following Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) intelligence that showed there was terror infrastructure in the area along with armed Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad terrorists,

Some of the terrorists were identified as being hit during the firefight, the IDF said.

Forces also destroyed terror infrastructure in the area.

Forces demolish home of terrorist

The military said forces demolished the home of terrorist Ahmed Barakat, who carried out two terror attacks, one of which was the Hermesh attack on May 30, 2023, in which Meir Tamari was killed.

Barakat was eliminated in an aerial attack in March.

A teacher and a doctor, both of whom were on their way to work in the city, were among seven people killed, PA authorities said. There was no immediate information on the identity of the other dead or the nine wounded, as the operation continued throughout the morning.

“Jenin hospital is the main governmental hospital in Jenin and it is surrounded now,” said hospital director Wissam Baker. “It looks like it will be tough hours ahead because the occupation is gathering more forces.”

He said the hospital’s specialist surgeon was among the dead after being shot while on his way to work.

According to the ministry, three of those wounded were in serious condition.
