IDF announces name of fallen soldier from terror attack
Captain Ariel Topaz succumbed to his wounds after being severely injured in a terrorist attack.
Captain Ariel Topaz, aged 24, from Pardes Hanna, an intelligence officer in the Intelligence Directorate's Research Division, succumbed to his wounds after he was severely injured from a terrorist attack, the IDF announced on Thursday morning.
His family was notified.
Topaz was wounded during the terror attack on July 14 at the Nir Tzvi junction, adjacent to the Tzrifin Military Base, in central Israel.
Four people were wounded in the ramming attack, with most of those wounded IDF soldiers.
The soldiers were evacuated to receive medical treatment at the hospital, and their families were notified. Earlier, Magen David Adom said its paramedics provided medical care and transferred three individuals who had been wounded to the Shamir Medical Center.
Topaz was posthumously promoted from the rank of lieutenant to the rank of captain.
His funeral will be held Thursday at the military cemetery in Pardes Hana.
