Israel Police opened an investigation into a social media post inciting violence against Prime Minister Netanyahu, possibly from an overseas source.

Lahav 433 Cyber Unit has opened an investigation into a tweet featuring Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on suspicion of incitement, the police announced on Wednesday morning.

The advertisement was distributed on social networks. At this stage, the advertiser's identity is not yet known.

Moreover, there is evidence suggesting the account that created the advertisement was operated by someone abroad, KAN News reported, citing a report on the “Fake Reporter” project.

The post, which was published with a detailed plan to harm Netanyahu during his visit to Washington, DC, according to KAN News, began, ”We have a golden opportunity to get rid of Bibi forever.”

Crash into Netanyahu's convoy during US visit

“He insists on going to give a speech in the US, fine, let him go,” the post continued. It then stated that “our goal” was to use publicly available information concerning his itinerary for the visit, and that “an armed team with vehicles will crash into his convoy.”

The post’s author then wrote that Netanyahu must be pulled out of the car he was in, “and do what should have been done a long time ago,” possibly suggesting to kill the Israeli prime minister.

“There’s no escape from sacrificing ourselves,” the post read, “We should learn from other nations,” possibly referencing Arab nations in the Middle East where terrorist organizations employ suicide bombers.

The post concluded by emphasizing that sacrifices made to achieve the author’s goal, “is the only way.”
