PMO leak suspect moved to suicide prevention after foreign object found in cell
Eliezer Feldstein's transfer to a surveillance cell is intended to ensure his safety and well-being, the Israel Prison Services said.
Eliezer Feldstein, the main suspect in the PMO leak scandal, was transferred to a suicide prevention cell after prison guards found a foreign object in his cell, the media reported, citing the Israel Prison Services (IPS).
Contrary to earlier reports, an IPS statement said a noose was not found in the suspect’s cell. The IPS added that the object had been “improvised from permitted materials available in the cell.”
The IPS stated that the move was taken “to ensure his safety and well-being.” The circumstances surrounding the incident remain confidential to protect Feldstein’s privacy.
“I have been crying for 22 days over a vile blood libel against a reserve officer, a figure of virtue and honor,” Feldstein’s mother wrote in response to the reports.
The transfer occurred a day after prosecutors indicated that they intended to charge Feldstein for his involvement in the theft and leak of classified IDF documents, which were leaked to foreign media, including German tabloid Bild and The Jewish Chronicle.
According to the prosecution and investigation findings, Feldstein’s actions “severely endangered state security.”
