German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said on Tuesday that the conflict between Israel and Iran-backed Hezbollah is "at a critical moment, perhaps a moment that also gives hope," as a Lebanon ceasefire deal is within reach due to direct mediation.
"At the same time, we know from the past few months that we cannot rely on hope alone," said Baerbock on the sidelines of the Group of Seven (G7) meeting in Italy.
"That is precisely why it was so important that we discussed the situation in Lebanon so intensively with our Arab partners."
