PIJ terrorist wounds several in ramming attack near Hebron, in West Bank

The IDF confirmed that a terrorist carried out a ramming attack at the al Fawar Junction, which wounded four people, the military announced Saturday evening.

During the incident, shots were fired at the terrorist’s vehicle.

After a joint manhunt by the IDF, the police, and the Shin Bet, the terrorist surrendered to security forces. He had fled the scene to the nearby village of Dura, according to the police. 

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) later claimed responsibility for the attack on social media. "We commend the ramming attack carried out by one of the Mujahideen of our Palestinian people," the statement read. 

"We affirm that this attack and others like it are a clear indication of our people's steadfast commitment to resistance as the only option. It is a natural response to the fascist and Nazi practices of the enemy against our people and the ongoing occupation of our land," the PIJ statement concluded.

Several wounded

An IDF soldier in his 30s was severely injured during the attack, sustaining significant limb injuries.  He was evacuated to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba to receive medical treatment, and his family has been notified, Magen David Adom and the IDF reported. 

MDA also reported that passengers of a vehicle that was struck continued driving until they met with MDA teams. MDA crews evacuated a 45-year-old man with light wounds from shrapnel to Soroka Hospital.

One additional citizen was lightly injured after his car was shot. Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that medics treated another man and one child, who were passengers of the vehicle, at the scene for anxiety.
