Seyyed Davood Bitaraf, a worker at the Iranian embassy in Damascus, succumbed to his wounds after his vehicle was shot at last Sunday, the Iranian foreign ministry announced in a post to X/Twitter on Saturday.
The Iranian foreign ministry's spokesperson, Esmaeil Baqaei, said that Bitaraf's body was discovered and repatriated to Iran in recent days and called on the Syrian transitional government to "identify, prosecute, and punish the perpetrators of the crime."
