The FBI is investigating whether the blast was an act of terrorism and has not ruled out a connection to the Wednesday morning attack in New Orleans.

One person was killed, and seven were wounded after a Tesla Cybertruck caught fire and exploded outside of the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday.

Videos and images were shared across social media following the event.

Eric Trump, the Executive Vice President of the Trump Organization, stated that the safety of hotel guests and staff is the highest priority, and extended thanks to local authorities, including the fire and police departments, in an official statement on X.

This was followed by an official post on the Trump International Hotel's official account, which shared similar sentiments.

The Las Vegas Police Department stated that the fire had been extinguished, but they are "investigating" the situation and asking people to avoid the area.

Potential link to New Orleans terror

Elon Musk suggested that this event may be related to the New Orleans terror attack that killed 15 people, including two Israelis.

"Both this Cybertruck and the F-150 suicide bomb in New Orleans were rented from Turo," Musk wrote, "Perhaps they are linked in some way."

According to Musk, the explosion was caused by "very large fireworks and/or a bomb carried in the bed of the rented Cybertruck and is unrelated to the vehicle itself."

"All vehicle telemetry was positive at the time of the explosion," he stated.

The cybertruck explosion is currently being investigated as "intentional" and a "potential act of terrorism," Las Vegas law enforcement announced.
