Earlier on Wednesday, the two MKs called for a state probe during a Finance Committee meeting in the Knesset.

Shas MKs Yinon Azoulay and Yosef Taieb on Wednesday evening partially retracted their calls for a state commission of inquiry, led by a former Supreme Court president, investigating the events of October 7 and the massacre of over 1,400 Israelis and foreign nationals by Hamas.

Earlier on Wednesday, the two MKs called for a state probe during a Finance Committee meeting in the Knesset. "I have said this more than once or twice: We need to establish a state commission of inquiry; the sooner, the better," Azoulay said in a video from the committee shared by the Knesset's television channel on social media.

"That's my personal opinion, and I am stating that clearly," he added.

Azoulay and Taieb later noted that, while they "voiced their concerns over the agreed-upon need to investigate the terrible events of October 7...we leave the decision over who chairs such an investigation to our faction leader Arye Deri."

The two joined fellow Shas member and Interior Minister Moshe Arbel, who also called for a state probe in August of last year.
