A delegation from the Jewish community in Mexico – through the assistance of The Jewish Agency and Keren Hayesod – came to Israel to help with the sensitive work of the ZAKA search and rescue organization in the communities surrounding Gaza.

Six volunteers from the Jewish community in Mexico between the ages of 29-70 came to Israel to assist the ZAKA teams in their difficult work in the Gaza border area. The mission was arranged by The Jewish Agency and funded with the help of Keren Hayesod, which will assist the ZAKA members at the Center for Identifying the Missing in Lahav 433 in the coming period. They will also assist in sorting through remains of bodies found in private homes in the Gaza border area and bringing them for burial. Further, the delegation will help in cleaning the personal belongings of murdered Israelis before returning them to their families.

This is a first-of-its-kind mission of members of the Jewish community from Mexico, who have previously been professionally trained by ZAKA. Another delegation will soon arrive to assist in this sensitive work.
