The gala, which successfully raised about 10 million dollars, was held last week at the luxurious Casa Cipriani, a property owned by the Cayre family.
In a remarkable display of philanthropy and community solidarity, Michael Cayre, a prominent Jewish American figure in Manhattan's real estate industry, orchestrated the Moonlight Gala, a major fundraising event in support of the victims of the October 7.
The gala, which successfully raised about 10 million dollars, was held last week at the luxurious Casa Cipriani, a property owned by the Cayre family.
Cayre, born and raised in Brooklyn and known for his family's Zionist philanthropic endeavors, has long been a supportive figure in aiding Israel. The Moonlight Gala is his latest initiative following the outbreak of violence in southern Israel earlier this month.
The gala was not only a fundraising event but also a star-studded affair, attended by notable figures such as New York Mayor Eric Adams, Ambassador Gilad Erdan, and leading members from the Jewish community and business world.
The highlight of the evening
The highlight of the evening was a unique offer by the co-creator and main actor of the popular Israeli TV show 'Fauda'. In an unprecedented move, roles in the show's fifth season were auctioned, raising $900,000, with the highest bid of $400,000 securing a superintendent role.
'Fauda', an acclaimed series on Netflix, depicts the story of an Israeli undercover unit. Its intense plot and engaging storytelling have made it a global success. The funds raised at the gala will aid those impacted by the recent violent incidents in southern Israel, supporting a cause close to the hearts of many attendees.
Natalie Hister Ostad, alongside Melanie Bronfman, played a pivotal role in organizing this significant event. In a statement, Ostad emphasized the urgency and importance of their efforts: "As soon as the war began on October 7, we mobilized and enlisted to support and help the residents of the South and the Gaza Envelope of Israel. Our goal is to provide substantial support in these difficult times."
