United States Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, speaking with Senator Mitt Romney on Saturday at a conference at the John McCain Institute in Arizona, laid the blame for the situation in Gaza on Hamas and stated that the onus was on the terror organization for advancing the proposed hostage deal

"We await to see whether, in effect, [Hamas] can take 'yes' for an answer on the ceasefire and release the hostages. And the reality in this moment is the only thing standing between the people of Gaza and a ceasefire is Hamas."

Blinken continued, "In the meantime, even as we are doing that, we are working every single day, the president is working every single day, to make sure that we are doing what we can so that the people in Gaza who are caught in a crossfire of Hamas's is making, get the help, the assistance, the support they need."

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken warned Qatar last month that they should expel Hamas senior officials if the terror group rejects another ceasefire proposal, the Washington Post reported Saturday morning.

Qatar reportedly responded that they told Hamas leadership to be prepared for a scenario in which they would be forced to leave the country.

Three senior officials cited in the report claimed Qatar was preparing for Hamas’s expulsion for months due to frustration with Hamas’s unwillingness to accept ceasefire proposals, frustration that has grown with Hamas's lack of response to the current proposal.
