Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was informed of the drone attack as it happened on Thursday night, and has since completed a phone security situation assessment with Israel's heads of security, the Prime Ministers Office reported on Friday afternoon.

Israeli officials told Ynet that "there will be a response to the shooting of the Iranian drone by the Houthis" and that they would not rule out the possibility of a retaliatory action on Yemeni soil, saying such action was "on the table."

The officials also said they believed the target was the US embassy.

"It was examined, but it appears that it did not fall there by chance. This was probably their destination," the officials added.

The UK will be resuming funding for UNRWA, the UN Palestinian refugee agency in Gaza, citing the need for humanitarian aid, new UK Foreign Secretary David Lammy said in the House of Commons on Friday.

The foreign secretary said the government will now provide £21 million in new funding and that UNRWA had taken steps to “ensure it meets the highest standards of neutrality,” according to Jewish News.

The UK, in line with other nations, had suspended funding to UNRWA over allegations that some employees had been supportive of Hamas following the October 7 attacks.

“I can confirm to the house that we are overturning the suspension of UNRWA funding," Jewish News cited Lammy as saying.

This leaves the US as the only country not to reinstate funding.

IDF spokesman R.-Adm. Daniel Hagari on Friday said that in the coming days, the military and the government would meet to decide how to respond both on offense and on defense to what appears to almost certainly have been a drone attack by Yemen on Tel Aviv.

Hagari said that Iran manufactured and guided the Houthis of Yemen in acquiring and using the Samad-3 drone, which was used in the attack.

The IDF spokesman accused Tehran of being behind all of Israel’s security problems on multiple fronts, whether from the Houthis, Gaza, Lebanon, Syria, or in the West Bank.
