The United Kingdom is evaluating its continued sale of arms to Israel, United Kingdom Secretary of State David Lammy told parliament on Tuesday amid reports that his newly installed Labour government planned to halt such sales.

Israel has been concerned that the United Kingdom would indeed take such a step, or that it would at the very least constrain such sales.

“As soon as I came into office, I commissioned new advice on Israel's compliance with international humanitarian law in the context of the war in Gaza,” Lammy stated.

The civilian committee probing the events leading up to October 7 heard testimony from witnesses Tuesday, including from IDF reserve officers.

The body leading the probe is made up of legal and security experts and was announced earlier this month by families of those killed on October 7, representatives from kibbutzim that were attacked, and civil society groups.

One of the primary goals of the committee is to instigate the foundation of a state probe, which has been shot down by Israel’s political echelon.

The Hamas terrorists “knew that the IDF knows how to handle a maximum of five points in parallel,” Democrats Party leader, Maj.-Gen. (res.) Yair Golan told the committee Tuesday.

The IDF struck Beirut on Tuesday afternoon, targeting a Hezbollah commander who was responsible for the strike on Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights a few days earlier that killed 12 Israeli Druze children and teenagers, the military announced.

The name of the commander targeted was Fuad Shukr. The Hezbollah official had a $5 million bounty "on his head," according to the United States Rewards for Justice.

Shukr was Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah's military adviser and has been active in the terrorist organization for 30 years, where he was the head of the terrorist group's operations room, three senior security sources told Reuters. Shukar also goes by the names "Hajj Mohsen" and "Muhsin Shukr."

The United States would help Israel defend itself should a full-scale war break out with Lebanon, the country’s Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin told reporters in the Philippines as Lebanon braced for an IDF counterstrike.

“We remain concerned about the potential of this escalating into a full fight. And I don't believe that a fight is inevitable,” Austin said.

He spoke as the almost ten months of IDF-Hezbollah cross violence threaten to escape into a third Lebanon war following a Hezbollah strike that killed an Israeli on Tuesday and 12 Druze children on Saturday.

IDF Brig.-Gen. Barak Hiram met on Tuesday with the families of the hostages who lost their lives in Pessi Cohen’s house in Kibbutz Be’eri. He acknowledged the military failure that occurred in the kibbutz and heard what the family members had to say about his conduct on October 7.

The meeting, which lasted about two hours and was complex and very charged, allowed all participants to ask questions and criticize Hiram’s conduct on October 7 and afterward – in interviews he conducted in the media.

The meeting did not include any details that were not revealed in the IDF investigation presented to the kibbutz members in early July, but it was significant due to Hiram’s willingness to listen to the members and provide some of the families with a measure of relief.
