Hezbollah fires triple rocket barrage at northern Israel hitting Kiryat Shmona building
Hezbollah released a statement that the rocket barrage toward Israel was done as retaliation for an earlier Saturday Israeli strike.
Hezbollah fired dozens of rockets from Lebanon at northern Israel in a number of barrages over the course of Sunday.
The military further noted that subsequently to the sirens which sounded at 12:57 a.m., 2:34 a.m., and 2:39 a.m. in the Kiryat Shmona area, Hezbollah’s rockets achieved some hits, while other rockets were intercepted by the IDF.
Out of Hezbollah’s dozens of rockets, one hit a building in Kiryat Shmona during the early hours of Sunday morning and another crashed into a sidewalk.
The IDF said that there were no casualties. However, there was significant damage to the building that was hit and also to a parked car.
At approximately 1 a.m., a round of sirens sounded not only in Kiryat Shmona, but also in Kfar Giladi, Misgav Am, Margaliot, and Manara.
Another round of sirens went off at 2:30 am in the same areas, with a third barrage occurring at around 5:30 a.m.
A rocket collided with a building in Kiryat Shmona, and another crashed into a sidewalk, while others were either intercepted or fell in open areas, Israeli media reported.

Following the alerts that sounded in the area at 5:35 a.m., the IDF intercepted some of the rockets, while it failed to intercept others, which impacted in open areas with no injuries being reported, the IDF added.
The IDF said that overnight Israel Air Force (IAF) jets struck Hezbollah military structures in the Aitaroun, Maroun El Ras, and Yaroun areas of southern Lebanon.
In addition, the IAF killed a terrorist belonging to the Amal terrorist group who was in a Hezbollah military structure in Faroun in southern Lebanon.
Following the attacks, Hezbollah released a statement on their Telegram account that the rounds of attacks toward Israel were carried out as retaliation for an earlier Israeli strike on Lebanon in which Lebanese paramedics were reportedly killed in the southern town of Faroun.
Hezbollah takes responsibility
"In support of our Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip and to back up their brave and honorable resistance, and in response to the enemy's attacks on the southern villages and safe homes—particularly the attack that targeted medical teams in the town of Faroun, which led to the martyrdom and injury of civil defense personnel—the Islamic Resistance launched a barrage of rockets on the Kiryat Shmona settlement," the Hezbollah group said.
Later Sunday, the air force intercepted a drone which Hezbollah launched into Israeli territory from Lebanon, the IDF reported.
In response, an alert was triggered in the area of Malkia in northern Israel, although there was no damage or casualties.
Additionally, the IAF struck Hezbollah terrorist infrastructure in the Al Rihan area in southern Lebanon, the IDF said.
Meanwhile, in Gaza
Meanwhile, in Gaza, the IDF reported very little progress, though it highlighted an air force strike last week that killed Hamas commander Raef Omar Salman Abu Shab.
Shab was the commander of the rocket launching unit in Hamas’s Eastern Khan Yunis battalion in southern Gaza.
The IDF noted that he had been in charge of the rocket barrages fired at southern Israel from the Khan Yunis area since the onset of the Israel-Hamas war.
In other operations, in Rafah deep in southern Gaza, IDF troops of the 162nd Division eliminated terrorists, raided terror targets, and located weapons, the IDF added.
In central Gaza, soldiers of the 252nd Division eliminated terrorists who posed a threat to their positions at the Netzarim Corridor, the military noted.
The IDF specified that over Saturday-Sunday, it had struck some 25 Hamas terror targets throughout Gaza.
Among the targets were terrorist squads, terror infrastructure, and military structures.
