Israel at war: What happened on day 416?

The Home Front Command has tightened its security guidelines following a situational assessment on Monday evening.

According to the new guidelines, communities along the northern border, North Golan, and South Golan directive areas (in the communities of Katzrin and Kedmat-Zvi) will transition from 'partial' activity to 'limited' activity levels.

A Lebanese army soldier was killed in a drone strike in the coastal Lebanese city of Tyre on Monday, a correspondent for the Hezbollah-affiliated Al-Manar reported.

Security forces eliminated two terrorists who threw explosives during an operation in the village of Ya'bad in the northern West Bank, the military said on Monday.

Additionally, the IDF, Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), and Border Police thwarted terrorist activities and arrested nine wanted individuals overnight. 

The security forces also confiscated a handgun as well as thousands of shekels in terrorist funds, the IDF noted. 

Following the sirens that sounded in Kfar Aza, one rocket was identified crossing from northern Gaza, the military said on Monday. 

The IDF noted that the rocket fell in an open area, and no injuries were reported. 

Drone intrusion sirens sounded in Israel's North on Monday morning, initially blaring in the northern community of Shlomi, before sounding in Nahariya and other localities in the region. 

Shortly after the sirens were sounded, the Home Front Command announced that the incident had concluded. 

IDF Arabic Spokesperson Avichay Adraee issued an evacuation warning to residents of the Haret Hreik neighborhood in southern Beirut in a post to X/Twitter on Monday.

"For your safety and the safety of your family members, you must evacuate these buildings and those adjacent to them immediately and stay away from them for a distance of no less than 500 meters," Adraee wrote. 

Approximately 20 rockets were identified crossing from Lebanon into Israeli territory, triggering sirens in the Upper and Western Galilee, the military said on Monday morning. 

Israeli emergency medical service Magen David Adom announced that response teams were en route to search areas where reports of rocket crashes were received. 

MDA stated that paramedics were providing medical treatment to a 60-year-old man who was wounded in the head by shrapnel but is conscious. 

Paramedics also treated a 75-year-old man who was moderately wounded by shrapnel and was evacuated to the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya.

The ceasefire initiatives with Lebanon are unrealistic, and optimism surrounding an agreement with Israel is artificial, author and political researcher Bechara Khairallah claimed in an interview with Saudi news channel Al-Hadath on Sunday. 

According to Khairallah, "All this optimism is artificial. It’s an attempt to create a sense of optimism and make people believe that an agreement is close, particularly before the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump."

Khairallah stated that no settlement would occur before Trump’s inauguration on January 20 and that [Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu would not grant outgoing President Joe Biden any diplomatic victory before the end of his term.
