IDF strikes terror targets in Lebanon following Hezbollah ceasefire violation

The IDF has begun striking terror targets in Lebanon following Hezbollah's violation of Lebanon's ceasefire agreement with Israel, Israel's military announced on Monday evening. 

The attacks come after Israel vowed to respond to Hezbollah's previous rocket launches toward Israel's Mount Dov area.

Two killed in southern Lebanon after Israeli attack - report

Two people were allegedly killed in southern Lebanon during an Israeli strike, Army Radio reported on Monday evening. 

It also emphasized that the reported strikes were not the response to Hezbollah's earlier Monday rockets fired toward Mount Dov that violated the cease-fire agreement and to which Israel vowed to respond.

The Pentagon said on Monday that despite some incidents, the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanese armed group Hezbollah was holding.

"Broadly speaking, it is our assessment that despite some of these incidents that we are seeing, the ceasefire is holding," Air Force Major General Patrick Ryder, a Pentagon spokesman, told reporters.

IDF operates in Lebanon, responding to Hezbollah 'ceasefire violations'

The terror sites "posed a threat to the State of Israel and were a violation of the ceasefire understandings," the IDF stated.

The IDF operated in southern Lebanon on Sunday and Monday morning in response to Hezbollah's violations of the ceasefire with Lebanon, the military said on Monday. 

The IDF also addressed the reports of a Lebanese soldier who was wounded in one of the strikes, saying that the incident was under investigation.

It added that during the strikes in southern Lebanon, several Hezbollah military vehicles were struck that operated in the area of a missile manufacturing site in Beqaa.

Hezbollah on Monday afternoon fired two mortars at open areas of Mount Dov on the Golan Heights, its first significant ceasefire violation, though the group has tested the IDF's closure of southern Lebanon a number of times.

At the same time, Lebanon, France, and on Monday, reportedly US envoy Amos Hochstein have accused Israel of various violations of the ceasefire.

Israeli politicians reacted on Monday to the IDF's confirmation that Capt. Omer Neutra was killed on October 7 of last year, and that Hamas took his body to the Gaza Strip.

"Our hearts are with the Neutra family this morning, who, after more than a year of a determined, traumatic, and worldwide struggle, received the devastating news confirming the death of their beloved son," President Isaac Herzog wrote in a post on X/Twitter.

Hezbollah terrorists must move northwards, FM Sa'ar tells French counterpart

Hezbollah terrorists who are currently south of the Litani River are violating the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon and must move northward, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar told his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot in a phone call on Monday.

Sa'ar also reportedly told Barrot that Israel was not breaching the ceasefire but was enforcing it in light of Hezbollah's violations of it.
