Two indicted for Hezbollah spying, hostage deal reportedly near completion

National Unity head, Benny Gantz, slammed Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for what he claimed was an attempt to sabotage a hostage deal, Israeli media reported on Sunday. 

The security cabinet is set to meet in northern Israel on Sunday. 

The State Attorney filed an indictment against two Jerusalem residents in their 30s on suspicion that they were in contact with, and had transferred information to, Hezbollah, Walla reported on Sunday. 

Israel will not hesitate to act against Hezbollah if the terror group violates the ceasefire or fails to withdraw beyond the Litani River, Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Sunday during a visit to Lebanon.  

Terror groups Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad, and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine issued a joint statement on Saturday demanding a halt to the Palestinian Authority’s ongoing actions against terror groups in the West Bank city of Jenin.

Hostage deal and ceasefire negotiations are 90% complete, a Palestinian official participating in the talks told the BBC on Sunday. 

The official reportedly added that some significant issues remained to be resolved, among which was the presence of Israeli troops in the Philadelphi Corridor, a corridor in southern Gaza that runs parallel to its border with Egypt. 

Hamas official Muhammad Abu Askar, who previously served as spokesperson for the Izzadin al-Qassam Brigades, the terror group's military wing, was killed in a strike in Jabalya in the northern Gaza Strip, Israel's public broadcaster KAN News reported on Sunday, citing Palestinian reports. 

An Israel Air Force aircraft struck terrorists overnight at a command and control center in a compound that previously served as the  "Musa bin Nusayr" School in the Daraj Tuffah area in Gaza, the military said on Sunday. 

The IDF is set to conduct a military exercise in the Jordan Valley area starting Sunday afternoon, the military said.
