Israeli IDF reservists handed NIS 2,000 university scholarships

After announcements by Tel Aviv University and Bar-Ilan University that they will give grants to their students who went into reserve duty, the University of Haifa has now said it will award a scholarship of NIS 2,000 to male and female students who enlisted for reserve service, with the aim of helping them and reducing as much as possible the financial concerns for the coming period. 

The donation is the fruit of a special emergency fund established by the university and came from friends of the university and lovers of Israel in Israel and around the world. Efforts to raise more money for the fund continue all the time, with the goal to continue to increase the grants. 

“The State of Israel owes a great debt to our reservists who left everything and mobilized to defend the country. This is the least we can do for them. It also warms the heart to see how friends of the university and of Israel all over the world rallied quickly and devotedly to help our soldiers,” said university president Prof. Ron Robin. 

Other assistance provided for reservists

The university is already providing psychological and spiritual assistance to the reserve servants, and some of the funds collected in the emergency fund will be transferred to strengthen the psychological system so that it can provide ongoing support for the students who will return to school at the end of the war
