Morris Elul’s touching story has become one of the great stories of faith in recent days. Morris is the uncle of Private Ori Magidish who was unexpectedly released from Hamas captivity.

In the interview he gave to 14 Now, he tells his personal, touching story and describes how he asked the Holy One, blessed be He, to show him a sign and miracle, and bring back his family member from captivity. In return he promised to keep all Shabbats according to Jewish law.

"My sons are students of Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto," he says. "They asked me to keep one Shabbat. During that Shabbat, my children read with me the Book of Deuteronomy and the Book of Zohar as a merit for Ori."

He went on, "After Shabbat, I said to the Holy One, blessed be He: make a miracle for me and bring Ori home, and I promise to keep Shabbat forever."

"That’s what happened," he continued. "On Monday I was informed that she miraculously returned from captivity. From today on, I will observe Shabbat and spend it with my grandchildren. I am still in shock. The Holy One, blessed be He, listened to my personal prayer," he said. Watch the full interview.
