Even If you are miserable - Don't ruin your child's future
In Rabbi Yoshiyahu Pinto's last talk, he referred to the Iron Swords war and the complex period which the citizens of Israel are going through in particular and that diaspora Jews are going through in general. He explained that these challenging days sometimes drag a person into melancholy and depression which might destroy the family unit and the children's health.
As Rabbi Pinto described it, sometimes depression causes parents to inculcate their children with phobias and anxiety. They don’t realize that they shouldn’t express their melancholy to their children because it may leave scars for years to come."
"Don't spread bitterness when you can avoid it," said Rabbi Pinto. "A good smell is easy to spread, but a bad smell sticks and doesn't come off the clothes," he added.
"There are depressions that have no basis in reality which come from the soul or the brain. One must know how to deal with them and not get carried away, even in the current highly complex period. Everyone should strengthen their faith in God and increase their good deeds," Rabbi Pinto concluded.
