Worth it or a waste of money? We visited Prada's cafe in London
Prada's new London cafe offers Italian-style meals, desserts, and branded pastries in a stylish space. Our experience and verdict on whether it's worth the money.
That famous 2006 movie with Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway did nothing but good for the red-hot brand. The Prada fashion house gained worldwide fame - as if it had lacked one. It has been maintaining its status as a desirable brand for years, and perhaps that is why Miocha's friends are engaged all day long in promoting her luxury brand.
Many of the fashion houses allow fashionistas and style and fashion enthusiasts to enjoy the brand in less conventional ways. Many top designers maintain hotels, restaurants and bars around the world. Giorgio Armani, the Discord brothers, Ralph Lauren and Roberto Cavalli already have. Now it's Prada's turn. After the successful launch in Milan, the fashion house decided to launch a cafe and patisserie in London.

The chosen location, of course, is the Harrods department store where all the hot names in the world of fashion, design and beauty congregate. In the cafe, which has two floors, you can enjoy fine coffee, light breakfasts, surprising lunches in the Italian style, traditional and fattening desserts and refreshing cocktails. If you want, you can take home airy and crackling croissants or pack pralines, marmalades, cookies and taffy as a gift, especially for yourself.
On our last visit to London we couldn't pass up the experience dripping with chic and style. The spaces in the place are designed with required minimalism. The soft shades of white, turquoise and black speak in harmony. The floral reliefs decorate the walls and the velvet sofas tell us where we have arrived. It is a classic design, on time and one that completely introduces an atmosphere that corresponds with the design line of the fashion house.
Just before we sat down for lunch we walked around the place which included seating tables and all the good things that Prada has to offer including shiny glasses. There were desserts like pistachio tiramisu, rich chocolate cake, sticky and sweet marmalades, cookies in luxurious tin cases and cute little pralines - all branded. We arrived at noon just in time to decide what we wanted for lunch.
They have branded plates on the table, which are joined by a menu that won't allow you to miss the brand name. The offer is not particularly rich and do not expect sophisticated or sophisticated cooking. Here you will get traditional and classic Italian dishes made with care. We took crispy focaccia with olive oil and soft butter. She was followed by a shrimp, orange and endive salad that was refreshingly fresh and with ingredients that the second woke up from the beauty sleep. We didn't give up the parmesan risotto which looked like a winning dish. The dish that looked really good was slightly disappointing as the rice was al dente and seemed to need a little more time of love and care in the pot.
At the end we thought that Italian desserts never disappoint and decided to go wild. The decision turned out to be correct because we didn't stop munching on bites and crumbs. For dessert we ordered both the pistachio tiramisu and three scoops of ice cream. Here make sure to remind us where we are. A sheet of branded white chocolate was placed on top of the excellent tiramisu and between the scoops of ice cream rested a round waffle with the name of the fashion house emblazoned on it.

On the way out we walked around a bit more among the chocolate artwork and the empty carbs. We were equipped with a surprising birthday gift that included branded tin boxes filled with buttery and soft chocolate cookies and pistachio cookies packed, of course, in a bag bearing the Prada name to complete the experience.
And so that StockBikists don't feel deprived - a little word about the pricing: this is a cafe that belongs to a super brand. The prices are expensive and there will be those who say excessive. But when you get to a place like this, you realize that just like in Harrods stores, you pay for the brand, among other things, in the same way in the cafe.
