From gourmet feasts to beer festivals, this summer's culinary events in Israel are set to delight food lovers with unique experiences and delectable treats.
Flagship Restaurant OCD Reopens After Forced Shutdown Amidst WarThe flagship of Israeli cuisine, OCD, led by Raz Rahav, is resuming operations after a forced shutdown due to the war. Reservations are now open, demand is high, and the reopening date is set for Monday, August 5. Price: NIS 669 for the legendary tasting menu, a two-and-a-half-hour experience.
Benedict: 24-7 ExtravaganzaThe Israeli restaurant group Benedict celebrates the Gregorian calendar with an extravagant festival on Wednesday, July 24. The program includes bottomless coffee all day, a surprise "on the house" table at 7 PM in each restaurant, and dishes priced symbolically at NIS 24. Featured items include appetizers like roesti, corn ribs, and dreamy breakfast plates, cocktails like Aperol Spritz and Benedict Smash, rosé wine, and pancakes with various toppings such as Kinder, Lotus, Ferrero, white chocolate and blueberries, bananas, and a pistachio-white chocolate combination.
Beer Festival at Meltzer's BreweryAmit Meltzer’s impressive beer house in Rishon Lezion celebrates two years of beer-pouring with an excessive and delightful festival. There will be no less than 190 types of beer, including fifty kegs and rare ambassadors, boutique brewery tastings, lectures, parties, collectibles, merch sales, plenty of treats, and of course, a DJ. The event runs from Wednesday to Friday, July 24-26, and features unique beers like coriander seed and salt, cactus and lime, red rice, aged rose, banana, and chocolate beers. The indulgent food menu includes items like croissant pretzels with chorizo sausages and chicken, Belgian waffles with corned beef and cheddar sauce, or a fried seafood mix, all enjoying a happy hour (4-5 PM) with a 30% discount.
Erez, Hanan, and Eliad at OnzaThe hospitality joy of Eliad Danon and Onza Restaurant knows no bounds. This time, it’s possibly the meal of the year, half a year before the year even thinks about ending. Erez Komarovsky and Hanan Azran will arrive at the Jaffa Flea Market on Monday, July 22, for what they’ve already defined as a one-time "crazy" meal. Expect a large tabun oven to be placed in the city's happiest alley, spreading smiles.
On the menu: fried zucchini with sheep yogurt and Bulgarian cheese, burnt and pickled Thai eggplant with Turkish ajika paste and fennel flowers, "Jaffa salad" with tomatoes, ba'ajir, fakus, and mulukhiyah, cured mullet with watermelon, pastrami with pickled mustard seeds and burnt bread, tabun-baked bread with pepper jam, harissa, and preserved lemon, chicken skewer with prickly pear, lime honey and red chili, brain and capers in chicken stock, and stuffed spleen with caramelized onions and spicy tomato sauce with green gremolata. Desserts will include more tabun-baked delights like kaymak and plums, apricot jam with sour cream ice cream, thyme and olive oil, and diplomat cream with hot Anna apples, brown butter, and yogurt ice cream. Madness, as we said.
Pairing Night at Tzora Winery and Hotel MontefioreThe Tel Aviv restaurant and the Judean Hills winery collaborate for a pairing night promising "13 places, 5 glasses, 5 courses, and a surprise." The event, taking place on Tuesday, July 23, continues the tradition of the restaurant and the R2M group led by Ruti Broudo. It will feature five wines selected by Eran Pick and five dishes crafted by Barak Hasan—such as aged Misty Hills alongside lamb chops with root vegetables, cherries, and black raspberries—all around a knights’ table with candles and flowers, aiming to disconnect from the outside world. Price: NIS 670.
