Brigadier General (res.) Guy Shafran, the former commander of the General Staff Reconnaissance Unit, has been appointed to a senior position on the hostage negotiation team, Israeli state broadcaster KAN reported on Tuesday evening.
Shafran will serve as deputy to Major General (res.) Nitzan Alon, a senior hostage negotiator, KAN reported. Alon replaced former negotiator Oren Setter in October.
