Grab the tail end of “In Search of My Language,” an exhibition of acrylic works by Marion Kunstenaar, at the Jerusalem Theatre, 20 Marcus St., until the end of the month. Born in The Hague, Kunstenaar has been living in Jerusalem since 1995.

SATURDAY, DECEMBER 9 

Attend a screening of the 2023 film A Burning Soil beneath Our Feet, directed by Julien Donada, shown during Jewish Film Week at the Jerusalem Cinematheque. 

In 1996, the French director went to Poland to visit the Nazi-built concentration camps created in the occupied country during WW II. The result was An Autumn in Poland

Attend a poetry workshop with poet and curator Rivka Miriam at Muslala. Join would-be poets at 8 p.m. for Hanukkah candle lighting and get the poetry going at 8:30 p.m. by attending a spoken poetry workshop with Efrat Greber Eran or a poetry workshop with Avishai Huri.

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 12 

Attend Fantasy of Lights, a merging of a musical concert offered by the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra under conductor Roni Porat, and the Vision of Light designer Uri Morag.

WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 13 

Visit At This Time, a series of artistic, musical, and film events held at HaMiffal, Mazkeka, and the Sam Spiegel Cinema. Attend a 7 p.m. candle-lighting ceremony with Iris Erez at HaMiffal (3 Hama’aravim St.) and stay for a special performance by the Jerusalem Street Orchestra. 

At 9 p.m., hear a talk about Israeli cinema at the Sam Spiegel Film and Television School (11 Bezalel St.) or hop over to Mazkeka and enjoy a 10 p.m. concert with Amir Lev (3 Shoshan St.). All events are free of charge. 

THURSDAY, DECEMBER 14 

Watch A Touch of Light, a puppet show aimed at children between ages six and 12, about the life of Louis Braille, who lost his eyesight when he was five. The writing method for the blind, which he began perfecting when he was 15, is now used globally. A Hebrew version was created by Rabbi Harry J. Brevis in 1933. 

The theater performance, created by Patricia O’Donovan, which has been shown around the world, is now performed by Roni Golan. 11:30 a.m. at The Train Theater, Liberty Bell Park. NIS 35 per ticket. Hebrew only. Call (02) 561-8514 to book.
