Lionel Messi wins his eighth Ballon d'Or

Messi claims his Ballon d'Or. Haaland second, Mbappe third. Bonamati wins the women's title, Bellingham is Young Player of the Year, Martinez is Goalkeeper of the Year.

Argentinian soccer champion Lionel Messi made history on Monday by winning his eighth Ballon d’Or.

Last December, Messi achieved a historic World Cup victory with Argentina.

In the Balon d’Or rankings, Messi outshone Erling Haaland, who secured second place and received the "Gard Müller" award for the year's top scorer. 

Kylian Mbappé finished in third place while Spanish player Aitana Bonmatí won the women's Ballon d'Or, Jude Bellingham was awarded the "Cup" for the Young Player of the Year worldwide, and Emiliano Martinez earned the Yashin Trophy for the best goalkeeper on the planet.

In addition, Brazilian footballer Vinicius Junior received the Socrates Award for his substantial contributions to community and anti-racism efforts.
