The quickest way to dry wet laundry without a dryer: The 'burrito method'
Learn a two-step Norwegian trick to swiftly dry your clothes in winter without the need for an electric dryer.
Winter has arrived, and the drying time for clothes seems endless when hung outside. Not everyone owns a clothes dryer, and even for those who do, using it for just one shirt (or a military uniform) might not be ideal. But fear not, as there's a speedy and cost-effective drying hack that hails from Norway.
Norwegian YouTuber Tor Ryder recently shared a video demonstrating a two-step method for rapidly drying clothes without the use of an electric dryer.
What did he do?
In the video, Ryder spreads a white towel on the floor, introducing his innovative "burrito method" for drying clothes.
"We're going to place our newly-washed t-shirt here, down on the towel," he says, then explains that the towel should be folded over the shirt until it's completely rolled into it. "Once we've reached the top, we are going to start stepping down on the roll," he continued, clarifying that the towel will absorb all the moisture from the shirt. Here's how it works:
Alternatively, he suggests twisting the towel instead of stepping on it, though he advises against using this method, especially for more delicate items of clothing.
Upon unwrapping the "burrito," he claims that his method reduces drying time from an entire night to just a few hours. "If you're in a hotter climate, you could probably wear this out and it will dry up on its own," he continued. "But if you're in a cold place, you need to dry it a little more first."
His second step involves hanging the shirt over a rail and using a hair dryer on the lowest heat setting to remove the remaining moisture. "Just be aware that if you go too hot, you may ruin your shirt," Tor cautioned.
