Kyiv

Kyiv is the capital city of Ukraine and has maintained a role as one of the most important cities in eastern Europe for hundreds of years.

Also known as Kiev based on its Russian-pronunciation, the city is home to millions of people and is one of the most populous cities in Europe.

Its history goes back well over a thousand years and it remains an important religious, cultural and economic center in the region.

Currently, Kyiv remains the seat of power of the Ukrainian government and has been the site of several clashes and attacks by Russian forces in the (currently) ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.
