Winona Forever Turns Two
The wonderful wine bar in Tel Aviv celebrates two years around the sun with special celebrations and two unique meals hosted by Evyatar Malka, sponsored by San Pellegrino.
The first event (Tuesday, June 4) will feature Erez Komarovsky and include an evening of fresh beginnings, with dishes like okra with salty cheese, cherry and bresaola salad, fresh ricotta with silan, lamb, and plenty of Israeli wine.
Raz Rahav will be the second guest (Sunday, June 16, NIS 400), hosting a "celebration of colors and glam" with a ten-course meal. The menu will blend Winona's and Terazza's offerings, including roasted leek with salty cheese and romesco, bruschetta with beef fat and dates, and beef skewer on a skillet pita.
Me Ma Mu in the Burger Scene
It's been a week or two since a new burger brand was born here, but Gilad Almog and Nir Edri of Biga and Cafe Greg, along with Marat Rosomaho, are quickly filling the gap.
Their meaty venture aims for rapid expansion with a quick-casual menu and an intriguing patent: dipping the patty in homemade sauce (like BBQ or mushrooms). Besides that, there will be crispy chicken, a double burger up to 400 grams, a vegan version, and sides like crispy cabbage, nuggets, and fries.
The first branch has opened in Rehovot, with future locations planned for Ono Valley, Savion Junction, Jerusalem, Ra'anana, and Haifa, as well as international expansion directly from Ben Gurion Airport.
Colony Hotel Breakfast
The restored Templar hotel in Haifa's German Colony is back in full swing, naturally bringing back its famous buffet, led by chef Andrey Bober.
The breakfast, open to all, includes potato pancakes with sour cream and cheese, cauliflower and beet spread, homemade syrniki with cream cheese and berry jam, savory Belgian waffle with cream sauce, spinach, broccoli, and a fried egg on top, and freshly baked focaccia with pesto, green tahini, and olive tapenade. Price: NIS 75.
Roomka, Haifa
The relatively new food bar in Haifa's Hadar neighborhood aims to serve nostalgic dishes with a clear nod to Soviet home cooking and a strong focus on deep alcoholic flavors.
Led by Ronny Berlin and Din Albar, Roomka is designed like an old Soviet apartment, blending classic and contemporary interpretations of those flavors. Expect dishes like Shuba salad, vegan ikra, steamed lamb dumplings, Kiev Cutlet based on chicken, and blini with condensed milk for dessert. The New Year’s Deal offers the entire menu at the table, along with plenty of drinks.
Mutfak’s 9th Anniversary
The popular Turkish restaurant in South Tel Aviv is celebrating nearly a decade with a collective customer treat: a delicious and almost impossible deal.
For two weeks (June 2-14), you can get a doner shawarma pita and lemonade for just NIS 39, with options to add other favorites like lahmajoun and kebab.
Chef Dinner in the Dark at Na Laga'at
The Tel Aviv cultural and arts center is marking Blind Awareness Day with a special dinner at BlackOut Restaurant, led by Yehuda Amar.
The dinner, on Thursday (June 6) under the theme "Close Your Eyes – and See," will include four courses (including dessert) served in complete darkness by blind and visually impaired waiters. Price: NIS 240, including a welcome cocktail.
Aside from the dinner, Blind Day events will also feature a special performance of "Conversations with the Bartender," the play "Not by Bread Alone," and a meeting between the center's actors and Rona Kenan.
